Constructed 170 years ago, the line between Mürzzuschlag and Gloggnitz was the first standard gauge mountain railway in Europe. Seamlessly blending nature and technology, the line traverses the pass through many turns, tunnels and iconic bridges and viaducts. By contrast, Semmering is but a section of the equally historical Südbahn. After pivoting through the peaks to Gloggnitz, the line, which itself dates back to 1842, straightens out and makes haste for Wiener Neustadt, the busiest station in Lower Austria. In Train Sim World 4, race along the 27km stretch of the Südbahn out of Wiener Neustadt, before trading speed for scenic views across the 41km Semmering Pass. At the helm of regional and freight operations with the ÖBB 1116 and ÖBB 4024, traverse the two-storey viaducts and rocky, forested topography of this twin-track triumph.
